Resources in IES Antonio de Mendoza

Hello, friends and family,

My name is Timothy Stolp, but you can call me Tim. I’m the current English Language Assistant at IES Antonio de Mendoza. I’ll be here for the 2024-25 school year.

I am so grateful to be here in Spain, especially in Alcalá la Real, learning about all its culture and vibrant history. Don’t be fooled, though, this isn’t my first year in Spain; I lived in Granada during university for a year.

All the same, this is my first time being a teaching assistant. It’s already been a really lovely experience so far interacting with the students and staff at such a unique school. My role is mostly designed to assist bilingual teachers in implementing English language skills into the classroom. It has been a joy! The teachers here at Mendoza are amazing and the students are wonderful.

Here’s just a little bit more about me:

I’m from a small city called Sioux Falls, in the state of South Dakota. It’s quite north (super cold!!) and just about in the center of the country. My state is home to Mount Rushmore, the famous mountain with the faces of former presidents carved into it!

This is my first year out of college/university. I graduated recently, this past May, with a double degree in Hispanic Studies and English Studies from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon (on the west coast of the country).

I look forward to getting to know our students and faculty at IES Antonio de Mendoza more over the year. I believe learning languages helps us all connect with the larger world around us and I’m excited to share that with everyone here in Alcalá.

See you around,

Tim
