Hi, my name’s Addison, I’m 23 years old, and I’m so excited to be spending the school year working with the amazing teachers and students at IES Antonio de Mendoza! I traveled here from Asheville, North Carolina, which is 4,228 miles away from Alcala la Real on the Eastern coast of the United States. Asheville is home to over 400,000 people and known for its mountains and breweries. Growing up in the mountains, I love to spend time outdoors. Swimming, kayaking, mountain biking, skiing, and playing soccer are some of my favorite activities. Having the Sierra Nevada mountains so close to where I work and live here in Spain feels like a little piece of home away from home. My role in the school is to assist the bilingual teachers in their various subjects so that the students can practice listening to and conversing with a native English speaker. I also get to share my culture and traditions from the States. In addition to teaching, I work remotely in publishing as a book designer. I love to learn and try new things, so I’m always exploring. I’ve visited 15 different countries and spent time as a legal assistant, radio DJ, sales associate, au pair, and more. My time at Antonio de Mendoza has been a wonderful opportunity to continue this spirit of exploration, and I feel so lucky to be here! I look forward to getting to know the rest of the community over these next six months.
