Resources in IES Antonio de Mendoza

Les presentamos a  Jake Simons, auxiliar de conversación asignado a nuestro centro para este curso, gracias a los programas europeos Erasmus+.

Hi Everyone!

My name is Jake Simons and it is a pleasure to be this year’s auxiliar de conversación. I was born on March 16, 1995 in San Francisco, California (it took me about 24 hours of travel to get to Andalucía). Growing up in an active family, I fell in love all things sports and outdoors. My favorite pastimes include playing baseball (Go Giants!) and basketball (Go Warriors!), although it is a bit more difficult to play baseball in Spain as it is mostly an American sport. I feel very lucky to have grown up in California, San Francisco specifically, because of the diversity of culture; it is like a melting pot. Every neighborhood in San Francisco offers a different feeling of the city. There is a large Latino and Asian population in the city and because of that we have the pleasure to indulge in their culture and delicious food. My favorite foods are tacos and burritos, and an Asian cuisine called Dim Sum.

I left San Francisco to attend Sonoma State University, about an hour and a half north of San Francisco, and studied Spanish and Marketing. While studying at Sonoma State, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Granada, Spain. I fell in love with the people and the culture, and knew I wanted to come back. Fast forward three years and I am back in Spain, immersed in the culture, assisting in conversational English at I.E.S Antonio de Mendoza. I look forward to an amazing year and an unforgettable experience!
